As well as hearing from national and international experts in the field on how we embed inclusive practice in systems and policies, this conference will mark the launch of ALTITUDE - National Charter for Universal Design in Tertiary Education. Lead by ATU, ALTITUDE is a landmark cross-sectoral effort making incrementable and sustainable progress towards the embedding of a universal design approach at the strategic level of tertiary institutions, and to encourage collaborative action on this topic in learning and teaching, supports and services, and the physical and digital environments of our institutions.

Rethinking Assessment: Inclusive Assessment and Standards in a Dynamic and Changing World

QQI in partnership with AHEAD and the Disability Advisors Working Network (DAWN) are hosting an event to explore how to make assessment practices in further and higher education more inclusive of all students. Participants will hear from leading national and international experts in the field, explore challenges posed by an increasingly diverse population and the need for inclusive assessment at scale, and through dialogue and feedback, contribute to the development of national QQI-endorsed principles for inclusive assessment. Assessment, Quality and Access professionals – we need your voice in this conversation!
In relation to this event and work stream, QQI, AHEAD and DAWN are seeking:
- Case studies of good practice in inclusive assessment at the individual, programme, departmental or institutional level – read the call and submit short text or video case study by March 8th.
- Short phone selfie video contributions from learners on positive experience of assessment making it more inclusive for them, and negative experiences of assessment which presented barriers for them - read the call and submit video through the easy-to-use platform straight from your phone camera by Friday March 23rd by answering the questions posed. All learners who submit will be entered into a draw for a €100 All Go card.
