Scholarships
ATU offers a wide range of scholarships for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
We provide financial support to hundreds of ATU students each year, recognising talent across a range of areas—from academic achievement to sporting excellence. We also offer assistance to students who need financial support.
You can apply for scholarships at different stages of your ATU journey.

New Undergraduate Students
We offer a wide range of scholarships for undergraduate students beginning their studies at ATU. You can apply for come scholarships before you start, while others open for applications once you have commenced your studies.
The scholarships below are listed here in date order to help you easily see upcoming opportunities.
Scholarships for adult learners studying for a Bachelors degree for the first time.
Closing date: March
Scholarships offering a range of financial and non-financial benefits to talented student athletes.
Closing date: April, June, October
A wide range of scholarships for students from countries outside the EU.
Closing date: Various
Scholarships for young people from less advantaged and non-traditional backgrounds applying to designated healthcare courses.
Closing date: May
Scholarships for those in the International Protection System living in Ireland.

A national access scheme for students who are socio-economically disadvantaged and from groups under-represented in higher education.

Bursary Scheme for young adults who have had a care experience of at least 6 months and are aged 18 or over.

For those with a home address within 15km of Galway Wind Park and currently studying, or who hold an unconditional offer of a place for entry into the current academic year at ATU.
Up to three scholarships available to students at ATU’s Sligo campus on eligible courses who are from underrepresented or less advantaged backgrounds.

New Postgraduate Students
We offer a wide range of scholarships for postgraduate students at ATU. ATU graduates may also be eligible for a postgraduate fee reduction, providing additional support as you continue your studies.

A 20% reduction in academic fees for ATU Alumni pursuing a taught Level 9 Masters degree at ATU.

Scholarships offering a range of financial and non-financial benefits to talented student athletes.

A wide range of scholarships for students from countries outside the EU.

For current and former inter-county players who are accepted onto any full-time or part-time Masters in ATU.

Two bursaries available for students starting the MSc in Outdoor Education, Sustainability and Well-being.

For residents of Gaeltacht areas studying on the MSc in Sustainable Tourism and Event Management

Current ATU Students
We offer a range of scholarships for students who are already studying at ATU. These opportunities are available at different stages throughout your course, with applications opening at various points during the academic year.

For ATU students on Years 1 and 2 of specific Agri-related courses in ATU Galway, Mountbellew or Donegal campuses.
