Parking
Car park management services are provided by ATU contract security staff and motorists are obliged to always comply with security personnel directions.
The car parks on the Sligo campus are at capacity most days and we strongly encourage staff, students & visitors to use alternative modes of transport. There are approximately 900 spaces across campus. 720 of the spaces are free to park with the remaining 180 spaces incurring a reasonable hourly tariff.
The paid parking is located at the visitor car park at Block H and at the Clarion road car park. The free parking is available at the main car park in front of Block E and at the Knocknarea arena.
Please be aware that clamping is in operation for vehicles parked in areas that do not comply with the car parking policy.
Clamping may occur, but is not limited to, the following instances –
- All areas denoted by double yellow lines.
- Entrances & Exits.
- Loading bays.
- Grassed areas.
- Footpaths.
- Obstruction of other appropriately parked areas.
- Parking without due consideration to other campus users.
- Parking without a valid ticket clearly displayed in the pay & display carpark at Clarion
- Parking in Disabled area without a valid permit.
- Anyone involved in practices or actions designed to evade the car park tariff or procedures.
- Anyone involved in careless or unsafe driving practices.
A fee of €50 is charged to release the clamp and a €200 charge is applied if the clamp is tampered with. A sticker is placed on the rear passenger window to warn that the vehicle has been clamped. You should contact Security to get the clamp released.
