The ATU Connemara campus is the National Centre for Excellence in Furniture Design and Technology. It is regarded both nationally and internationally as a leading provider of third-level programmes in furniture, wood products and teacher education (Design Graphics and Construction). It is located along a stunning coastline in Letterfrack, a little over an hour from Galway City. This campus is home to over 200 students, studying five different degree programmes. Students have access to state-of-the-art workshop facilities with the most advanced machinery and computer technology.   

The Connemara campus has links to major furniture design and manufacturing companies around the globe, allowing students to avail of work placement opportunities with leaders in furniture design and manufacturing. Graduates are recognised for their innovative, creative and responsive approach to projects. They frequently win, and are shortlisted for, national and international awards that influence and develop the furniture design industry.

An open access parking system applies in the Connemara campus. 

No charges apply.

Vehicles are parked on the campus at the owner’s risk.

Facilities

Library 

The Connemara Library covers 2 floors. The lower consists of study spaces, book stacks, our whisper room, a self-issue machine and a multi-functional device which allows printing, scanning and photocopying. 

The mezzanine or top floor has views of Diamond Hill in the beautiful Connemara National Park and doubles up as an exhibition and bookable event area.

Student Social Spaces 

Wild Goat Cafe provides students with a comfortable space to relax and and hang out. 

Seating areas in various parts of the college also provide an opportunity for students to relax. 

Quiet & Sensory Spaces 

There are 2 whisper booths in the campus, one in the link corridor and one in the library, both of which offer the students the opportunity to avail of some quiet space. 

Shop 

There is no shop on campus, however there is a supermarket, post office and cafe directly across the road from the campus. 

ATM 

The nearest ATM is located in the supermarket across from the campus.

Sports 

Students have access to the Diamond Hill Community Centre Gym which is less than 5 minutes away. There is also a floodlit astroturf pitch, grass football pitch and tennis court available on this site. 

ATU Connemara has thriving football and hurling teams as well as many other clubs and societies and students also have the option to join the local rugby team.   

Food on Campus

The Wild Goat Cafe is an onsite cafe catering to students.
