Mayo CDR scholarships
Overview
CDR Philanthropic CLG is an Irish foundation that supports charitable activities, including the promotion of education in Ireland. Through this partnership, three scholarships are available to students at our Mayo campus. These scholarships are designed to support learners and help remove financial barriers to accessing higher education.
Available Scholarships
Mature Student Scholarship
- €5,000 per year
- Maximum award value: €20,000
Available to students on any full-time undergraduate course
Nursing Scholarship
- €1,250 per year for Years 1 to 3
- Paid placement in Year 4 of the course
Applied Social Care Scholarship
- €1,250 per year for the duration of the course (Years 1 to 3 or 4, depending on course length)
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Be either:
- a new entrant to higher education on the Nursing or Applied Social Care Courses
Or
- a new entrant mature student or who previously attended higher education but did not complete their course (“second-chance” mature students).
Plus the following mandatory criteria:
- Be a citizen of an EU/EEA member state, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom.
- Be registered on a full-time undergraduate course at ATU’s Mayo campus.
- Meet any additional scholarship requirements and, if shortlisted, attend an interview.
- Have family income under the current threshold for the third-level maintenance grant scheme.
How do people apply?
Applications open on 1st October 2026 and close on 30th October 2026.
Eligible students will receive an email containing a link to the online application form.
What are the next steps after applying?
Applications are assessed using an approved scoring system and selection criteria. Following assessment, applications are reviewed by the Internal Access and Widening Participation Scholarship Committee, which includes representatives from across the University and the Students’ Union.
Shortlisted applicants may be invited to interview.
Following completion of the review and appeals process, scholarships will be awarded to the successful applicants.
