Protected Disclosures

Atlantic Technological University (the University) is committed to providing workers with a confidential and secure pathway for reporting concerns about wrongdoing in the workplace and also to protecting workers against penalisation for having reported those concerns. The Protected Disclosures Act 2014 as amended (“the Act”) protects workers who report certain workplace wrongdoings. A formal channel for reporting such concerns has been established in accordance with the Act. The University’s Protected Disclosures policy sets out: how to make a report; the types of wrongdoing that constitute a protected disclosure; what happens when a report is received; and the protections that are available against penalisation for reporting a concern about wrongdoing. The University will:

The President has overall responsibility for the procedures set out in this policy. The Vice President for Corporate Governance is the Designated Person with day-to-day responsibility for the handling of reports. In the case of a conflict of interest on their part or other reason for their non-availability, the President may appoint another Designated Person to deal with the disclosure. Please read the policy carefully before making a report. It is solely the responsibility of the discloser to ensure they meet the criteria for protection under the Act. If there are any queries about this policy, please contact the Vice President for Corporate Governance.

In accordance with the policy the University has put in place an Internal Reporting Channel which is managed by PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers), an external third party. This ensures there is an independent avenue where our employees and workers can report any concerns or suspicions with confidence.
