World Maritime Day, observed annually on 25 September by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), highlights the vital role of our oceans in daily life and global trade. The 2025 theme, “Our Ocean, Our Obligation, Our Opportunity”, emphasizes the ocean’s importance to the world economy, our shared responsibility to protect the marine environment, and opportunities for sustainable maritime innovation.
To mark this occasion, ATU researchers showcased how they are shaping the future of our oceans and coasts in the Northwest region of Ireland.
