Course Overview

This programme aims to develop the learners’ proficiency in German so that they can communicate and interact successfully in German in a wide range of professional contexts. It will build on their existing language skills in the four language acquisition areas (listening, reading, writing and speaking) at level A1+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Upon successful completion of this module, students will be deemed to have reached level A2+ of the CEFR.

1	German for the Workplace 2 This module is appropriate for learners who have already reached level A1+ according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). They will refresh their knowledge of German and learn additional German vocabulary and structures relevant to topics for professional purposes. These may include aspects of general, business and commercial German language. Their learning will be based around the context of the culture of German-speaking countries. This module aims to develop the learner's proficiency in German so that they can communicate and interact successfully in German in a wide range of professional contexts. Upon successful completion of this module, students are deemed to have reached level A2+ of the CEFR for languages. Learning Outcomes 1. Conduct a basic work-related conversation. 2. Extract the main points from pertinent texts and write short summaries in English and German. 3. Follow a range of work-related conversations and extract the main points. 4. Demonstrate an awareness of the professional and cultural context of German-speaking regions and countries. 5. Write brief reports, emails or other transactional texts that could be used in a professional setting. 6. Demonstrate oral competency in a professional setting.	10	Mandatory

Examination and Assessment

100% continuous assessment of written, oral and aural skills and project work.

On-Campus Attendance Requirement

Students will be required to attend on-campus once for assessment purposes.
