This course has been designed to upskill automotive technicians working in the automotive sector. The course will guide candidates with no previous experience in EV technology to gain the ability to diagnose and repair faults in High Voltage systems, build a comprehensive understanding of EV technology, better interface with ICT systems software used in this industry, and analyse business expenses to determine how to make maintenance and repair of these new types of vehicle profitable.

Industrial StudiesThis module aims to give students operational experience of best practice in an industrial setting. Students will also be given the opportunity to see a variety of frameworks for business solutions implemented in a motor vehicle repair environment. Students will be exposed to a working environment with the objective of maximising their employability and future career prospects whilst providing employers with the information to make the changes that need to be made to a vehicle repair business as it pivots towards the introduction of repair work on electrified vehicles. The Department is also planning to develop a bridging studies Level 6 Certificate (Special Purpose Award) for graduates from UK Level 4 Motor Mechanic Apprenticeships.

Through Springboard+ funding, employed candidates only pay €680 to study this course. For unemployed candidates, the course tuition fee is free, with 100% of the fee funded by Springboard+.
