National webinar with Bruce D. Perry, M.D., Ph.D to explore relationships across a child’s life
Tusla, in collaboration with Atlantic Technological University (ATU), will host a national webinar with internationally recognised child psychiatrist and neuroscientist Dr Perry on Friday, 16 October 2026, at 2pm.
Titled One Child. Many Relationships. A Shared Understanding Across the Life Span, this online event will explore the importance of relationships and shared understanding in supporting children throughout their development.
The webinar will be particularly relevant to staff and students in social care, early childhood education, nursing, sports science, education, law and psychology, as well as professionals whose work brings them into contact with children, young people and families.
Dr Perry is Principal of the Neurosequential Network and an internationally recognised researcher and clinician in children’s mental health and neuroscience. His work has shaped our understanding of how trauma and neglect affect the neurobiology of the brain, and the power of positive relationships to buffer the impact of adversity.
The webinar follows Dr Perry’s visit to ATU in April 2026, during which he shared insights from more than four decades of research and clinical practice in childhood trauma, brain development and relational health.
Dr Rita Melia, Lecturer in Early Childhood Education and Care at ATU, said:
We are delighted to collaborate with Tusla in welcoming Dr Bruce Perry back to engage with the ATU community and participants across Ireland. A child’s development is shaped by a number of factors, of particular significance are their relationships and their lived experiences. Therefor developing a shared language and understanding across the various disciplines and actors in a child / young person’s life is especially relevant and important. We warmly encourage anyone working or studying in an area connected with children, young people or families to join us.
The webinar will take place online from 2pm to 3.30 on Friday, 16 October.
