ATU announced as sponsor of the Euro Surf Championships in Bundoran
Atlantic Technological University (ATU) has announced its sponsorship of the Euro Surf Junior Championship taking place in Bundoran, County Donegal from 24 September to 4 October 2026.
The championships gather some of Europe’s top junior surfers to Ireland for the first time, with previous competitions having been held in Portugal, Morocco, France, and Jersey.
The location of this year’s competition reinforces Bundoran’s reputation as one of Ireland’s premier surfing destinations and provides an exciting opportunity to showcase the region on an international stage.
As a university with a strong presence across the west and northwest of Ireland, ATU is proud to support an event that celebrates sport, coastal communities, and the vibrant region in which the University operates.

This event highlights the exceptional sporting environment that exists along the Atlantic coast and provides an invaluable opportunity to welcome young athletes, teams and supporters from across Europe to Donegal. We are proud to support an event that promotes participation, performance and community while celebrating our region’s connection with outdoor sport.
The event will see approximately 250 young surfers from 20 countries come to Bundoran with their coaches and families. They will compete in over 237 heats at U18 and U16 levels, with seven European titles at stake.
Event organisers expect 10,000 visitors over the 10 days of the competition, which also coincides with the Saltwater Festival in Bundoran – a broader celebration of coastal life, with music, film, wellness, art, and local food.
