Climbing the UDL Ladder: Building a Culture of Belonging in Tertiary Education
Taking place on 29 May 2026 in ATU Sligo campus, this full-day conference is themed “Climbing the UDL Ladder: Building a Culture of Belonging in Tertiary Education.” The programme is grounded in the principles of CAST UDL 3.0 and the ALTITUDE Charter, with a strong focus on addressing bias, advancing equity, and creating learning environments where all learners can belong.
This years Conference brings together leaders, educators, practitioners, and students from across Higher Education (HE) and Further Education & Training (FET) to explore how Universal Design for Learning (UDL) can actively build cultures of belonging in tertiary education. Through keynote addresses, panel discussions, student voices, and interactive workshops, the conference will showcase practical strategies and shared commitments that support inclusive practice across the tertiary landscape.
Participants will engage with real-world examples from HE and FET, explore digital and pedagogical approaches to belonging, and connect with colleagues working to embed UDL at institutional and classroom levels.
This conference is both a space for reflection and a call to action – inviting the tertiary education community to work collectively towards inclusive, equitable, and belonging-centred learning experiences for all.
