Our St Angelas campus is perhaps the most scenic in the country and just minutes away from Sligo town centre. Students experience small class sizes and a personal approach to learning in a comfortable and welcoming setting. St Angelas students enjoy a healthy balance of theory and practice across all undergraduate courses so students can enhance their skills ahead of real-world placements.    

Students enjoy a learning experience that will empower them on a personal and professional level to ensure their high employability on graduation. The campus is home to over 1,600 students who study full-time, part-time or online across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in nursing, health sciences and disability studies, home economics and education.

National Transport links to/from Sligo

By Road:

By Rail: Sligo, Collooney and Ballymote are serviced by the main Sligo-Dublin train with up to 8 intercity train services per day. The Sean MacDiarmada Train Station is located beside the Bus Depot in the centre of Sligo.

By Public/Private Bus: There are both public bus and private coach operating services to Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon, Galway, Longford, Westmeath, Dublin, Belfast and Derry.

By Air: Ireland West Airport, Knock is located 50km from Sligo and offers scheduled and charter flights to the UK and Europe.

St. Angela’s College Students’ Union also arrange car-pooling to allow students to travel to/from College together. For more information, contact supresident.stangelas@atu.ie

Parking on Campus

There is ample free car parking available at ATU St Angelas (separate to the Student Apartment parking areas).

Facilities

Library 

A quiet library with rows of bookshelves and long study tables positioned near large windows. Several people are seated individually, reading or working, with views of trees and a Lough Gill visible through the windows.

Located on the top floor of Áras Michael, The McKeown Library offers 80 study desks, 20 PCs, 2 group study rooms, printing, photocopying, scanning facilities and a self-check service.

Academic Writing Support (including As Gaelige)
Located on the First Floor of the Áras Michael Building (main entrance) next to the computer lab M104.

IT

IT help is available on 1st Floor of Áras Malachy (canteen building) room AM 201.

Dudley Practice Area

The Dudley Practice Area (DPA) is the Clinical Skills Simulation Learning environment located on the Ground Floor of the Áras Michael Building. It is available to all nursing students throughout the academic year, including lunchtimes. Bookings can be made through Moodle or by contacing the Clinical Skills Nurse, Sharon Sherlock.

Quiet & Sensory Spaces

The Coach House offers a quiet space for all students registered with the Disability service.  There are two rooms available located opposite the main reception and accessible for all students. Bookings can be made through Vivienne Ryan, the Disability Officer

Students’ Union & Student Social Spaces

The Students’ Union area is located on the bottom floor of Áras Brid and includes a common room which is a communal area where all students can watch TV, play snooker and other games such as Nintendo.

Free tea and coffee is available all day (bring your own keep-cup) and use of the kitchen facilities of fridge, microwaves and toasters. A Vending machine is also located beside the SU common room. 

Lockers

Lockers are available free of charge in the SU.

Shop 

The Students’ Union operate a shop located in the General Manager’s office where a range of stationery, writing and class specific resources are available on campus. A selection of drinks and snacks are also available. Office services such as binding, laminating, A3 colour copying and printing are also provided here.

Sport

ATU St Angela’s students may use the Sports Facilities on ATU Sligo campus

Food on Campus

The Catering Team endeavour to provide good quality, wholesome food at reasonable prices to both students and staff in a relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Freshly made scones are baked each day and available together with light breakfast snacks and cereal. 

For mid-morning break a variety of tasty bites and fresh, quality coffee and tea are offered quickly and efficiently through the self-service. A selection of sandwiches and salads are also available. 

Where practical we source “Fair Trade” products and provide a service where a highly developed “HACCP system operates while consideration for the environment is equally important 

Please note: Special events may mean the dining room being booked out completely.

Friday: 8.30am – 3.30pm

Hot food is served Monday-Friday 12 midday – 2.00pm
