Tell us a little bit about yourself and what led you to choosing your course?
I have always been interested in working with numbers, which is what led me to choose Accounting as my course.
What are your favourite modules on the course?
Accounting requires strong critical and logical thinking skills, so if you enjoy problem-solving, it’s a great fit. My favourite modules are the core Accounting ones that run throughout the course, particularly Management Accounting and Financial Reporting.
Is there anything else about your course that you particularly enjoy or find beneficial?
Studying at ATU doesn’t just provide you with academic knowledge. The lecturers also support you in building connections and relationships that can help you secure employment, even before your final year.
What is the best thing about your course that you think new applicants should know?
The level of support from lecturers at ATU is excellent. No matter what issue you have, they are always willing to sit down with you, listen, and help find a solution.
If you were speaking with a first-year student about to start your course, what advice would you give them?
I would recommend focusing on building a strong foundation in Financial Reporting during your first year, as this knowledge will support you throughout the course and even in your future career.
If you are involved in sport, volunteering, working or have other passions you pursue outside of your academic life, can you tell us about that?
During my time as a class representative, I attended class rep meetings where I had the opportunity to meet many students from different courses and backgrounds. I really enjoyed learning about their experiences, and each new person I met inspired me in different ways.
What are your plans after ATU and any long-term goals you are aiming for?
My plan is to complete my accounting training and become a qualified Chartered Accountant. ATU provides great support in helping students connect with the right people and opportunities to start their careers.
