The purpose of the ATU Galway-Mayo Academic Writing Centre is to enable students to fulfil their potential in the academic writing tasks which are part of their course work.

The Centre offers focused academic writing tuition to all ATU Galway-Mayo students, at all levels, in all years, and across all disciplines.

The tuition available takes the form of pre-bookable, thirty-minute, one-to-one sessions, directed by the requirements of each student.

The 2026-2027 Academic Year

The Academic Writing Centre sessions are conducted online via Microsoft Teams. All sessions are available to be booked by students of all Galway-Mayo campuses.

In the 2026-2027 academic year, the Academic Writing Centre is using new booking software. Now, booked sessions will appear on students’ Microsoft Teams calendars as Teams meetings.

Students should observe good netiquette—i.e. be logged in to their booked meeting on Microsoft Teams, be appropriately dressed, and be in an appropriate location for the session.
