Galway-Mayo Induction
Welcome to Atlantic Technological University!
If you’re starting ATU Galway-Mayo this September, your induction will take place on campus on Wednesday 10th, Thursday 11th, and /or Friday 12th September. You’ll find out which day to attend in August.
Read below to learn what happens at induction and check out the fun events and activities we’ve planned to welcome you to college.

Please note: you will only be able to access the Student Hub and Moodle VLE once you have fully registered as an ATU Galway-Mayo student.
Pre-Induction Orientation Events
The following groups of students will be invited to attend an orientation event before the main induction day:
- International Students on Wednesday, 30th July from 2-3pm online. Students will receive an email invitation from ATU Global.
- Mature / Further Education Entry Students on Saturday, 6th September, from 9:30am-1pm at ATU Galway City Dublin Road.
- ATU Library Induction for New Students on Monday, 8th September, from 2-2:30pm online. Students can access the booking link here.
- Transitioning to Higher Education: Your Health and Wellbeing Webinar on Monday, 8th September, from 5-6pm online. Students can access the booking link here.
- Students on the DARE scheme on Monday, 8th September, from 6-7pm online. Students will receive an email invitation from the ATU Disability Office.
- Neurodiverse Students on Monday, 8th September, from 6-7pm online. Students will receive an email invitation from the ATU Disability Office.
- Students on the HEAR scheme on Tuesday, 9th September, from 2-4pm at ATU Galway City Dublin Road.
These sessions are here to help you settle in. You’ll get useful information based on your course, answers to common questions, and advice on important topics. We’ll also explain the supports available to you and help you get to know the campus.
Family Day
Parents, carers, brothers and sisters – your whole family is invited to our Family Day!
We know that moving away from home for the first time can feel like a big step. Family Day is a chance for you and your family to:
- Meet our staff
- Learn about the student support available
- Explore the campus
Join us at:
- ATU Galway City Dublin Road on Tuesday 9th September, from 4pm to 6pm.
- ATU Galway City Wellpark Road on Tuesday, 9th September, from 4pm to 6pm.
- ATU Mayo on Tuesday 9th September, from 3pm to 5pm.
- ATU Connemara on Wednesday 10th September, from 4pm to 6pm.
- ATU Mountbellew on Wednesday 10th September (time TBC).
Induction Days
Your induction will take place on campus. All new students must attend.
Depending on your course, you’ll attend on Wednesday 10th, Thursday 11th, and/or Friday 12th September. Check here for your schedule – it will be available in late August.
The induction day aims to be fun and interactive. It gives you a chance to:
- Meet your classmates
- Get to know the campus
- Meet your lecturers
- Get more information about your programme and timetable
- Find out more about student life
- Learn about the supports available for you
#First5weeks
Our #First5Weeks Welcome Programme kicks off in the first week of term and is open to all new and returning students.
It’s designed to help you settle into college life and make starting third-level education easier. Each week has a different theme to help you explore the academic, learning, and social supports available on campus.
