Sligo Engineering and Technology Expo to return to ATU on 30 April 2026

Dr. Trevor Mc Sharry Head of School of Building & Civil Engineering, Atlantic Technological University at last year's event

A wide range of high-profile exhibitors will be in attendance, including Abbott, SF Engineering, Motion Controls Ireland, AbbVie and Vertiv. There will be over 40 exhibition stands on the day.  Collectively, they will showcase the latest innovations shaping Ireland’s engineering and technology sectors, as well as offering students, graduates, and visitors’ valuable insights into future career pathways.

One of the most anticipated moments of the 2026 Expo will be the announcement of the student project award winners, following on from the strong calibre of work exhibited in previous years.

Last year, standout awards were presented to a number of innovative student projects, including the annual Ronan Healy Memorial Award.

The Expo’s Fireside Chat Stage, introduced for the first time in 2025, will return in 2026, offering attendees the chance to hear thought‑provoking conversations with engineers, industry leaders, alumni, and educators discussing emerging trends and their own professional journeys.

Support services including the  ATU Apprenticeships, and ATU Online Learning will be available on site, offering guidance for prospective students, career changers, and professionals seeking to upskill.

Speaking ahead of the event, Prof Graham Heaslip, ATU’s Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Computing said:  “Across Atlantic Technological University, our Faculty of Engineering and Computing brings together a dynamic, multi-campus community, enriched by strong partnerships with industry. This collaboration ensures our programmes remain innovative, relevant, and closely aligned with real-world challenges and opportunities. With an expanding portfolio of online and flexible learning options, we are also creating accessible pathways for learners at every stage, whether beginning their journey or advancing their careers. The Engineering and Technology Expo offers a unique opportunity to see this in action, and we warmly invite students, industry partners, schools, and the wider community to join us, connect, and explore the future of engineering, computing, and emerging technologies on display.”

Also commenting in advance of the Expo, Sean O’Hara, Site Director of Abbott’s Diabetes business in Donegal, added: “Abbott is proud to once again sponsor the Sligo Engineering and Technology Expo. As one of the largest employers in Donegal, we see first‑hand the importance of connecting young people with industry and helping them understand how engineering and technology skills translate into real‑world impact. Events like this play a vital role in inspiring the next generation and building the STEM talent and innovation needed for the future of healthcare and advanced manufacturing — and we are always keen to hear from curious, enquiring minds who want to explore where a career in STEM could take them.”

As ATU prepares to welcome industry partners, schools, families, and the wider community, the 2026 Sligo Engineering and Technology Expo will be expected to build on the strong momentum of previous years, once again highlighting the region’s growing importance as a hub for engineering and technological innovation.
