Donegal IGC Careers Fair brings 2,000 students to ATU campus

Second level students at IGC careers fair

Hosted in collaboration with the Donegal branch of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors (IGC), the event brought together 27 schools from Donegal and two from Northern Ireland, with students attending alongside their Guidance Counsellors to explore future education, training and career pathways.

More than 40 exhibitors from across Ireland and the UK were represented.

Exhibitors included universities and colleges such as ATU, University of Galway, Queen’s University Belfast, and Ulster University, as well as a wide range of apprenticeship, traineeship and PLC pathways delivered by Donegal ETB. National organisations, including An Garda Síochána, Defence Forces, Foroige, and Road Safety Authority (RSA) were also in attendance, highlighting the breadth of options available to students at the next stage of their journey.

Throughout the day, students engaged with interactive demonstrations, gathered information on courses and careers, and spoke directly with education providers and industry representatives to support informed decision-making about their futures.

Victoria Wilson, School Engagement Officer at ATU, said:

Events like this are incredibly valuable in helping students to explore their options in a supportive and engaging environment. It gives them the chance to ask questions, build confidence, and start thinking about their next steps in a real and tangible way. For many, it’s their first experience of a university campus, and that can make a lasting impact.

Fiona Kelly, Marketing Manager at ATU, added:
“The annual Donegal IGC Careers Fair plays a vital role in connecting young people with the wide range of opportunities available to them, both regionally and nationally. At ATU, we are proud to support initiatives that empower students to make informed choices about their future, while also showcasing the strength and diversity of education and career pathways accessible within the Northwest and beyond.”
