ATU’s Mayo Campus to welcome students for Open Day and Jobs of the Future and Apprenticeships Expo
Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Mayo Campus is set to welcome hundreds of secondary school students from across the region on Wednesday, 7 October, for a dynamic and engaging Open Day and Jobs of the Future and Apprenticeships Expo, from 10am to 12pm.
The event will provide prospective students with an opportunity to explore the diverse range of courses available at the Mayo campus, meet academic staff, experience campus life first-hand, and gain valuable insights into future career opportunities and pathways.
Throughout the morning, visitors will be able to attend course-specific talks, take part in interactive demonstrations and activities, and engage directly with lecturers and current students. The Open Day has been designed to showcase the breadth of educational opportunities available at the Mayo campus while helping students make informed decisions about their future studies.
Alongside the Open Day, ATU will host its Jobs of the Future and Apprenticeships Expo in St Mary’s Hall, bringing together professionals from a broad range of industries and sectors. Students will have the opportunity to speak directly with employers, industry experts, and apprenticeship providers to learn more about emerging careers, skills requirements, apprenticeship opportunities, and the changing world of work.
The event reflects ATU’s ongoing commitment to supporting informed student decision-making by connecting prospective learners with both educational and industry partners. By combining academic programme exploration with direct engagement with employers and professionals, students will gain a greater understanding of the opportunities available to them both during and after their studies.
The Jobs of the Future and Apprenticeships Expo will also highlight the growing importance of alternative pathways into employment, showcasing apprenticeship routes and career options across a range of sectors that are experiencing significant growth and demand for skilled graduates.
Speaking ahead of the event, Fiona Kelly, Market Engagement Manager, commented, “Our Open Day provides an excellent opportunity for students to explore the Mayo campus. Our programme opportunities continue to expand at the Mayo campus, with the development of a new BSc (Hons) in Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology, and the introduction of the electrical apprenticeship offering. Our Open Days allow students to experience the vibrant learning environment we offer.
By combining the Open Day with the Jobs of the Future and Apprenticeships Expo, we are helping students connect their educational choices with future career opportunities, giving them valuable insights into the skills and professions shaping Ireland’s future workforce.
A strong attendance is expected from secondary schools throughout Mayo and the wider region, creating a lively campus atmosphere and providing visitors with a comprehensive introduction to university life and future career pathways.
