The Property Services Regulatory Authority (PSRA) has recently confirmed that two Atlantic Technological University (ATU) programmes when combined, meet their necessary learning outcomes and standards, allowing graduates to qualify for comprehensive PRSA licences.

The approved programmes are the Level 7 BSc in Property Services and Facilities Management and the Level 8 BSc (Hons) in Real Estate Development and Valuation. It is when both the Level 7 and the Level 8 courses have been completed that they meet the PSRA qualification requirements. These programmes combined will allow graduates to apply for their A, B, C, & D PSRA licences.

ATU’s Level 6 Higher Certificate in Property Services and Facilities Management already enables graduates of that programme to apply for these licences. Maeve Hogan, CEO of the PSRA, emphasised the importance of education and regulation in the sector; “High-quality education and rigorous qualifications are cornerstones of a well-regulated property services industry. ATU’s programmes provide graduates with the essential skills and knowledge to uphold these standards, ensuring that consumers receive professional and reliable services from licenced practitioners.”

Separately, the Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers (IPAV) has recently accredited three of ATU’s programmes: the Level 7 Certificate in Auctioneering & Estate Agency Practice, the Level 7 BSc in Property Services and Facilities Management, and the Level 8 BSc (Hons) in Real Estate Development and Valuation. Pat Davitt, CEO of IPAV, said “The accreditation of ATU’s programmes by IPAV underscores our commitment to fostering professional excellence in the property services sector. These programmes provide a robust foundation for students, preparing them for successful careers in auctioneering, estate agency, and property management.”

Trevor McSharry, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering and Construction at ATU Sligo said that “We are delighted that our programmes have received PSRA and IPAV approval which is a testament to the quality of our curriculum and the dedication of our staff. Ensuring that our graduates are well-equipped with the necessary qualifications and knowledge is essential for maintaining high standards in the property services industry.”

The above programmes were developed in collaboration with and have been accredited by the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI). This additional recognition from the PSRA and IPAV not only reinforces the high standards of ATU’s educational offerings in this regulated sector, but also enhances the employability and career prospects of its graduates in the property services and facilities management industry. ATU are currently taking applications for the two Level 7 programmes.
