ATU launches 10 Open Days across its nine campuses as record student numbers choose the university
Prospective students, parents and guidance counsellors are being encouraged to experience first-hand what makes Atlantic Technological University (ATU) the university of choice for more than 5,200 new students this year, as ATU launches a series of 10 Open Days across its campuses, beginning on 30 September at the Mountbellew campus.
The Open Day series comes at a time of unprecedented growth for ATU, with record student demand, expanding academic provision and significant investment across its campuses. These events will provide prospective students with the opportunity to explore facilities, meet expert lecturers, speak directly with current students, and discover the programmes, supports, and career pathways available throughout the university.
The first Open Day takes place at ATU Mountbellew on 30 September from 10am to 12pm, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore one of Ireland’s most distinctive learning environments. Attendees can tour the campus and its impressive 120-hectare farm while learning about programmes in Agri-Business Management, Agri-Engineering, and Agri-Science, degrees that are helping to shape the future of Ireland’s agriculture and food sectors.
On 7 October, ATU’s Mayo campus in Castlebar will host its Open Day alongside Mayo County Council’s ‘Jobs of the Future’ event, providing attendees with valuable insights into emerging industries, future workforce needs, and the exciting career opportunities available to graduates of ATU programmes. Visitors will have the chance to explore the campus, learn about student life, and hear how ATU graduates are making an impact across Ireland and beyond.
The Open Day programme continues on 20 October at ATU Galway City’s Wellpark Road campus, showcasing opportunities in the creative arts, education, and design, while ATU’s St Angela’s campus will host an Open Day on 22 October, highlighting its diverse range of programmes and specialist learning facilities.
Speaking ahead of the Open Day series, Fiona Kelly, ATU Marketing Manager, commented, “Choosing a university is one of the most important decisions a student will ever make, and there is no substitute for experiencing a campus in person. This year, more than 5,200 students chose ATU as the next step in their educational journey, many of whom first connected with us through an Open Day.
ATU Open Days provide an opportunity to see beyond a prospectus or website. Visitors can walk our campuses, meet lecturers, speak with current students, learn about student supports, and gain a genuine understanding of what university life is like.
Our programmes continue to evolve in response to industry and societal needs. Recently, we introduced a new CAO programme in Sports, Exercise and Performance Psychology at our Mayo and Galway City Dublin Road campuses, further strengthening our commitment to delivering relevant, career-focused education.”
With campuses spanning the west and north-west of Ireland, strong industry connections, and graduates in demand across multiple sectors, ATU Open Days offer prospective students the chance to discover why increasing numbers of students are choosing to study close to home while accessing world-class educational opportunities.
