ATU Galway crowned All Ireland Champions after beating Marino in national Camogie Uí Mhaolagáin Cup
ATU Galway camogie players received a heroes’ welcome from students and staff at the Galway City, Dublin Road Campus today (Monday 9 Feb) after their glorious victory over Marino in the All-Ireland Camogie Uí Mhaolagáin Cup final on Saturday.
The All-Ireland champions beat the Dublin college 4-16 to 2-9 in an entertaining and high-intensity final at DCU. This was ATU Galway’s second national title in as many years, having secured promotion following their Ashling Murphy Cup victory last year (2025).
“For captains Sarah Coleman and Ava Lynskey, lifting the All-Ireland Uí Mhaolagáin trophy was a fitting reward for their leadership and consistency across the season. For the squad as a whole this victory represents a significant milestone and a moment that will be remembered with pride. ATU camogie can now look back on an outstanding championship campaign, crowned by an All-Ireland title earned through teamwork, resilience and belief.” writes Laoise O’Shea, ATU Galway Camogie PRO. Damien Coleman, ATU GAA Development Manager, says: “I’m delighted for the students, the players and management Aoife Lynskey and Martina Harkin (former Galway Camogie players) and inter county referee Liam Gordon who put in such hard work and commitment since last September. We knew this squad had serious potential as they won the league pre-Christmas and it was important that they maximise their full potential and have now gone onto championship glory.”
Molly Dunne, Sports Development Officer, says:
It’s brilliant to see that camogie has progressed up two levels in the past few years. Winning back to back championship is testament to the work being done by ATU Galway GAA Club and our sports scholarship recruitment. Obviously Galway is well represented in our squad but it’s great to see so many clubs around Ireland now see ATU Galway as a strong camogie college.
