Course Overview
The aim of this course is to become familiar with the process and practice of design for IT systems for delivering healthcare information services.
In this module, the architectural requirements of exemplar systems, including the interface, business services, cloud, quality attributes, privacy and security and multilingual requirements are put under the microscope. The focus is on data-driven technologies that underpin contemporary healthcare provision, decision services and mobile services. On completion of the module, the student will be familiar with the design of modern healthcare systems and have acquired the skillsets necessary to differentiate between good and bad systems design.

Entry Requirements
Minimum qualification is an Honours Degree in Health Sciences, Allied Healthcare or Medicine, with a first or second-class honours or an equivalent qualification.
Candidates who do not have an Honours degree but have significant relevant experience may also be eligible for consideration via Accredited Prior Learning (APL) and/or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
Fees
This course is funded by the Micro-credential Learner Fee Subsidy 2026 programme and fees are subsidised at 80% for all eligible learner categories. Eligible learners can expect to pay €140 for this programme as part of this initiative.
