With an increased emphasis on teaching computing in schools, there is increasing demand for teachers to introduce technology and coding as part of the curriculum. The study of programming and the development of programming competencies are central to learning computer science.

This 10-credit level 8 special purpose award will introduce students to the concept of teaching Computer Science in an engaging and meaningful way, using a formal pedagogical strategy. Students will learn how computational thinking can be taught in a way that allows children to discover answers for themselves using a constructivist approach, without the need for specialised equipment.

1	Computer Science Unplugged This module will introduce students to the concept of teaching Computer Science in an engaging and meaningful way, using a formal pedagogical strategy. Students will learn how computational thinking can be taught in a way that allows children to discover answers for themselves using a constructivist approach, without the need for specialised equipment. Evaluate how learners can understand abstract concepts through physical objects that can be touched, manipulated, and described. 4.
