TU Research and Innovation Supporting Enterprise Scheme (TU RISE)

Postgraduate Research sponsors

TU RISE is co-financed by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the ERDF Southern, Eastern & Midland Regional Programme 2021- 27 and the Northern & Western Regional Programme 2021-27

There are now 60 PhD Scholarships available at ATU.

ATU recognises the importance of nurturing the next generation of researchers and innovators. The RISE@ATU postgraduate student bursary scheme establishes five cohorts of 12 PhD studentships, each collaborating with at least one enterprise. This approach builds upon the track record of ATU’s pilot Postgraduate Research Training Programme (PRTP) scheme. These studentships are focused on regional strategic research themes (below), allowing students to engage in cutting-edge research while addressing real-world challenges that enterprises face.  These studentships create a pool of highly skilled researchers and proactively serve as a bridge between academia and enterprise, through placements.

  • Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering
  • AgriFood & AgriTech
  • Audiovisual/ Creative
  • ICT & ICT Services
  • Life Sciences, MedTech & Medical Devices
  • Marine & Blue Economy
  • Renewable Energy, Climate Change Mitigation & Sustainability

There are opportunities for graduates from Science, Engineering, Business, Arts, and to please explore each of the 5 Postgraduate Research Training Programmes to identify a suitable project that you can apply for

The 60 PhD Scholarship opportunities are contained within the 5 Postgraduate Research Training Programmes (PRTPs) shown below (download the brochures to see the details of each PRTP and each individual project):
