Public Health Nutrition

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what led you to choosing your course?
I chose to do this course because I have a personal interest in nutrition. I also have a passion for health and fitness and the use of correct nutrition when aiming for improved strength, muscle growth, and weight loss.
What are your favourite modules on the course? Please let us know why they’re your favourite modules to give prospective students an insight into your course!
Clinical nutrition has been my favourite module as I want to pursue a master’s in dietetics after I graduate, and we cover vast areas of diseases and how nutrition plays a key role in their therapeutic and recovery processes
Is there anything else about your course that you particularly enjoy or find beneficial? e.g., work placements, practical projects, etc.
The opportunity to travel to Australia for my work placement was an amazing opportunity that I am so grateful to have gotten the chance to do. I met amazing people in the field of nutrition, with whom I have written and published a paper with and have stayed in touch with for future connections. My time in Australia was amazing and something I highly recommend to all who are considering their placement there.
What is the best thing about your course that you think new applicants should know?
The lecturers are very understanding and very helpful when it comes to classes, assignment questions, and just helping you understand the course content
If you were speaking with a first-year student about to start your course, what advice/information would you give them?
Staying on top of your work is essential in this degree, as the workload quickly becomes heavy, and falling behind will greatly affect your grades
What are your plans after graduating?
I plan on pursuing a career in dietetics at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, where I did my third-year placement, as their program is highly regarded and their experience with diets such as FODMAPS is very interesting to me.
