From L to R: Dr. Jamie Meehan (MET/ATU),  Billy Donovan (MET/ATU), Dr. Patrick Delassus (MET/ATU), Colin Murphy (Premier Publishing & Events)

Taking place on Thursday, 30th April 2026, the event will bring together leaders in MedTech, Life Sciences, and Engineering to showcase cutting-edge research, technologies, and industry-ready innovations.   At the home of Connacht Rugby and a beacon of world-class infrastructure, the stadium will host the conference which will explore regional, national, and international MedTech, Life Sciences, and Engineering ecosystems.

Event Highlights include:

The event is a partnership between Premier Publishing & Events and the Enterprise Ireland-funded Medical and Engineering Technologies (MET) Gateway at Atlantic Technological University (ATU). It aims to bridge the gap between world-leading research excellence, cutting-edge technologies, and commercial industrial applications, connecting technical decision-makers with solution providers driving innovation on the ground.

The West of Ireland is globally recognised as one of the top five MedTech hubs in the world. MedTech Innovation 2026 is designed to leverage this reputation, showcasing next-generation technology from AI-driven diagnostics to advanced surgical robotics.

The collaboration ensures that Galway remains at the centre of the international MedTech map, attracting global investment and nurturing the talent that will lead the next generation of Engineering and Life Sciences breakthroughs.

Dr. Jamie Meehan, MET Technology Gateway Manager, said:

” By hosting this event we are creating a unique opportunity for clinicians, engineers, and researchers to meet with global industry leaders. At MET, our mission is to drive innovation that transforms medical technology, and this platform will be the catalyst for the next wave of life-saving breakthroughs.”

Dr Orla Flynn, President of ATU, highlighted the strategic importance of the collaboration:

“ATU is deeply committed to supporting the MedTech sector, which is a cornerstone of our regional and national economy. This event provides an opportunity to showcase the calibre of Irish research on an international stage, ensuring that Ireland remains a destination of choice for MedTech investment and talent.”

Dr Patrick Delassus, Academic Director and Principal Investigator at MET, highlighted the technical evolution of the sector:

“At MET, we are pushing the boundaries of what is possible in medical device testing and design. By integrating advanced engineering with clinical reality, we enable companies to fail fast in the lab so they can succeed faster in the clinic. Our work in high-fidelity Simulation and Medical Imaging is not just about incremental improvement; it is about providing the disruptive infrastructure that allows the next generation of smart, connected medical devices to move from concept to cure. This event is where those technical possibilities meet industrial reality.”

In addition to the conference, a limited number of delegates may apply for an invitation-only site tour of the MET Centre at ATU’s Galway City campus on the day of the event. This guided visit, aimed at senior decision-makers, offers access to:

Colin Murphy, Founder and Chairman of Premier Publishing & Events, remarked:

“This is a practical forum for the people building and supporting MedTech in Ireland. It is a chance to share what is working, speak honestly about pressure points, and make the connections that help teams move faster and make better decisions. Dexcom Stadium provides the perfect high-energy environment to facilitate the knowledge exchange that will define the industry for the next decade.”
