Parking

Car park management services are provided by ATU contract security staff and motorists are obliged to always comply with security personnel directions.

The car parks on the Sligo campus are at capacity most days and we strongly encourage staff, students & visitors to use alternative modes of transport. There are approximately 900 spaces across campus. 720 of the spaces are free to park with the remaining 180 spaces incurring a reasonable hourly tariff.

The paid parking is located at the visitor car park at Block H and at the Clarion road car park. The free parking is available at the main car park in front of Block E and at the Knocknarea arena.

Please be aware that clamping is in operation for vehicles parked in areas that do not comply with the car parking policy.

Clamping may occur, but is not limited to, the following instances –

A fee of €50 is charged to release the clamp and a €200 charge is applied if the clamp is tampered with. A sticker is placed on the rear passenger window to warn that the vehicle has been clamped. You should contact Security to get the clamp released.

Cycling Facilities

The campus cycling facilities are available for both staff and students who cycle to campus. These facilities comprise of the following:

Unisex Shower/Changing Facility Room H0023

This room is located on the lower ground floor of the Student Centre (Block H). The room comprises of five shower stalls, sixty heated and ventilated lockers, hair dryers, hand wash facility and mirrors.

Internal Locker Room H0023

There are sixty lockers provided to store and air clothing and personal belongings pursuant to the activity of cycling and are not intended for general use. 30 lockers are operated with €1 coins and the other 30 are operated with €2 coins. A coin must be inserted in order to secure the locker and enable the key to be removed. The coin is refunded when the key is replaced, and locker opened.

External Lockers Contained in Shelters

There are currently six external lockers located at each of the following bicycle shelter B, D, G, H, L and P. These lockers are operated as per the internal lockers in H0023.

These shelters at Blocks B, D, E, G, H, L and P provide a means to lock bikes in a secure manner by locking the bicycle wheel and frame to a secure rail.

External Bicycle Lockers

There are five external bicycle lockers located at blocks D, H, L and P. These are for use by people with high value bikes to allow them to lock the bike in a separate enclosure. The lockers will be available on a first come first serve basis and can be obtained by contacting the Estates Office in room A1020. It is envisaged that the users use their own padlock.

Lockers are permitted for use for one day only.

The Yeats Library is located in Block A and spans 3 floors.

On the lower ground floor of the library building, you will find:

Student Enquiries Desk

The Student Enquiries Desk is located in the Registrar’s Office (Room A1006, Block A, 1st Floor) opposite the Yeats Library.

Student Social spaces

The Student Centre has a seating space upstairs and a pool table downstairs. Weekly social events take place upstairs in the Belong room, H1002.

Knocknarea Arena social zone on the first floor has a table tennis, pool, darts and soft seating on the first floor.

A Student lounge with tea and coffee facilities is available in Block K.

Quiet & Sensory spaces

An Seomra Ciúin (The Quiet Room): The room offers a peaceful environment for breastfeeding mothers, individuals managing health conditions or recovering from treatment and anyone who needs a quiet moment during the day.

The Regulation Station space (located on the ground floor of Block A outside the bottom level of the library)

The Regulation Station space (located on the ground floor of Block A outside the bottom level of the library) is a dedicated seating area for those who experience sensory overload.

There is a Sensory Cubby on the ground floor of the library.

The Sanctuary  
Located upstairs in the Student Centre in Room H1012, the Sanctuary is the University multifaith prayer room. It is open during regular campus hours for students and staff to escape the rush of life and create a space for quiet reflection and prayer. 

Shop

The Students’ Union operates a shop on the ground floor of the Student Centre where students can buy newspapers at a discounted price, stationery and refreshments including Starbucks.

Lockers

Lockers are available in the changing rooms on the ground floor of the Student Centre, Knocknarea Arena and in a number of other locations around campus.

Located on the Sligo campus, Knocknarea Arena includes a gym, Multi-purpose sports hall, Multi-Activity Studio, Athletics Track and Playing Fields. Opening hours:

Arriving early?

The library opens from 8.30am if you want to squeeze in some study before the start of class.

Registered students can stop by the Breakfast Club upstairs in the Student Centre on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 8.15am during term time.

A comprehensive catering service is offered across the campus serving breakfast, lunches and beverages throughout the day and it is the policy of the University to focus on increasing the healthy offerings at each location. All catering onsite is provided by O’Hehirs. Apart from the Main Restaurant there are cafes in:
