Green Campus – Mayo

In 2011 the Mayo Campus became the first Institute of Technology Campus in Ireland to be awarded An Taisce Green Campus status .
We currently have the following flags for:
- Biodiversity
- Energy
- Litter & Waste
- Transport
- Water
ATU Mayo Green Campus committee acts as a voluntary group consisting of staff and students. The committee works closely with Building and Estates and assists by monitoring all the areas in which we have green flags.
ATU Mayo Green Campus also has the support of management on the campus. Dr Deirdre Garvey, Head of Department of Environmental Humanities and Social Science, is also the Chairperson of the committee and has been involved since the start.
ATU Mayo Green Campus also has the support of ATU Galway Mayo Centre for Sustainability under the leadership of Dr Mark Kelly.
