Psychology

ATU offers two programmes with career pathways in Psychology in our Mayo and Sligo campuses. Both of these programmes are accredited by The Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI).
In our Mayo campus there is a four-year AU698 Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Psychology giving a broad and comprehensive foundation in Psychology, the study of human behaviour, and the mind.
Our Sligo campus has a three-year honours degree AU917 BA (Hons) in English and Psychology which has pathways for students to progress their studies to Psychology.
In our Letterkenny campus, the four-year AU362 BSc Hons in Cyberpsychology serves as a gateway to several accredited MSc Psychology programme/conversion courses in the UK. These offer part time/fulltime, online/on campus study, and further empower graduates to excel in diverse fields of study and employment within the realm of cyberpsychology, traditional psychology, IT, and beyond. These accredited courses also allow students to apply for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
Speaking with graduates recently, some have progressed to universities such as Queens University Belfast, University of Limerick and University of Galway for their conversion courses. Deborah Doherty
I really enjoyed the fact that we had our own same class throughout this course. I felt this really impacted my experience. This meant that friendships were easily formed, and lecturers were able to check in and address potential questions more easily.
Considering you are studying both English and Psychology, I enjoyed the variety of modules that we covered but also the way both disciplines often complimented each other in terms of critiquing and analysing literature etc.
