Erasmus+ Staff Mobility
Erasmus+ can offer you professional development, networking and collaboration opportunities, widening your knowledge base and expertise, exploration of new cultures, and exposure to other higher education institutions best practices.
The Erasmus+ programme offers academic and PMSS staff the opportunity to undertake a mobility. This may take the form of teaching at a partner institution, job-shadowing, attendance at staff training weeks or courses.
Watch as ATU staff describe their experiences and the benefits of the programme. Continue scrolling to find out how you can take part.
Erasmus+ Teaching Mobility
Erasmus+ Teaching mobilities are available to all academic staff.
Academic staff interested in participating in a teaching mobility must liaise with their Head of Department regarding staffing arrangements for ATU lectures, particularly when the mobility occurs during teaching weeks at ATU.
Where can I teach?
Erasmus+ supports teaching at partner universities and colleges across the EU.
If you are interested in teaching at another university or college, ATU must hold an Erasmus+ Inter-Institutional Agreement with the institution you wish to visit.
The availability of teaching opportunities is entirely dependent on the Erasmus+ partnership agreements within a staff member’s academic department or subject area. Erasmus+ grants are subject to demand and the availability of funding. We recommend researching your Erasmus+ Teaching opportunities in advance of submitting your expression of interest.
For the most up-to-date list of partnerships relevant to your teaching area, please contact the relevant Erasmus+ office:
How long can I go for?
A teaching mobility must last a minimum of two days. ATU staff are encouraged to avail of five day teaching or training opportunities, where possible.
During the mobility, a staff member must deliver a minimum of eight hours of teaching per week.
The teaching period may also include a combination of teaching and training activities.
What funding is available?
If accepted for an Erasmus+ Teaching Mobility, you will receive one grant payment, which includes:
1. A travel grant
2. A subsistence grant
Please note: If you receive Erasmus+ funding to undertake a teaching mobility, you are not permitted to claim additional receipts for costs associated with the mobility through your ATU department. Funding must be claimed either through Erasmus+ staff funding or via your ATU department, but not both.
Is there a criteria for awarding staff grants?
Preference may be given to applicants who have not previously received funding.

Erasmus+ Training Mobility
Both administrative and academic staff can participate in Erasmus+ Training Mobilities. A range of training activities is supported, including job shadowing, observation periods, professional development courses, and structured events focused on developing specific skills or competencies.
Please note: Research collaboration activities are NOT eligible for funding under this scheme, nor is attendance at conferences.
Can I attend a conference under the Erasmus+ programme?
Conferences are not eligible for funding as an Erasmus+ Training Mobility, in line with Erasmus+ programme guidelines.
Where can I train?
Erasmus+ supports training at partner universities and colleges, as well as at relevant organisations operating outside the education sector.
If you wish to undertake training at another university or college, ATU must hold an Erasmus+ Inter-Institutional Agreement with the host institution. For the most up-to-date list of partnerships please contact the relevant Erasmus+ office:
