Withdrawals and Deferrals
Withdrawing or deferring from a programme of study
Students who are considering withdrawing or deferring from their programme of study should in the first instance contact the relevant Head of Department to discuss their options.
To withdraw from a programme of study means you have decided to leave the programme with no intention of returning.
To defer from a programme of study, means you have decided to defer your programme of study with intention of returning in the following academic year.
It is important that a student formally withdraws or defers by completing the relevant forms in a timely manner. These forms can found at ATU Student Hub.
Emailing or advising a staff member you are withdrawing or deferring is not sufficient. Students must complete the official process and fill the relevant official forms.
Failure to complete the process correctly may impact:
- Fee liability.
- Any refund of fees that might be due.
- SUSI Grants/Funding (i.e. Springboard/HCI/Skillnet)
- Return to study.
- Tuition fees on return to study.
Forms can be accessed here ATU Student Hub
