Online and Flexible Learning Induction – Donegal

Welcome to ATU Donegal…
We are delighted that you are joining ATU and are here to help you get setup and make the best start possible as an online learner.
Our online student induction takes place from Monday 8th – Friday 12th September 2025 with planned events and useful resources for you to avail of. We strongly encourage you to take the time to view the content and participate in the online events and remember its designed to be self guided so it can be viewed in your own time and pace.

Step 1 – Setup your ATU Password and MFA

Step 2 – Complete Your Online Registration

Step 3 – Log in to Blackboard

Step 4 – Access your Student Email Account
Once you have completed your online registration, you can access your ATU student email account via the Student Hub. Click Here

Live Q&A Events
Be sure to pop into one of our live lunchtime Q&A events where we’ll be on hand to answer any questions you may have. There will be staff from Admissions, Registration, Fees and our Online Student Advisors available to chat to you on the day.
Getting the Right Start Webinar
As part of the First Five Weeks Welcome Programme all new students are invited to attend an online Lunch and Learn webinar from 1:10pm to 1:50pm on Friday 19 September to help you get the best start to your programme and find your way around ATU online! You will find out more about key assessment dates, important contacts and our academic and support services. Join us online over lunch and ask any questions you have. ATU Online Student Advisors and Spingboard+ Coordinators will talk you through everything you need to know.

Digital Guidance Course
A Digital Guidance course has been created to help you make the most of the IT tools and technologies available to you as an ATU student. You can access this course here via the ATU student hub.

The library is your space for learning, research, and support throughout your academic journey.

Communications Learning Centre
The Communication Learning Centre provides guidance and assistance on all aspects of academic writing.
Supports Include;
- Initiating assignments: strategising, outlining, and structuring
- Navigating the writing process: brainstorming, drafting, revising, and editing
- Enhancing critical reading and proficient note-taking
- Formulating a compelling argument: encompassing critical reading, thinking, and writing
- Crafting reflective pieces, reports, and literature review write-ups
- Aiding in dissertation writing
- Fostering effective writing techniques for examinations
- Addressing plagiarism concerns
- Polishing grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills
- Study and exam support, including stress management and notetaking techniques
- Creative writing services (including scriptwriting) for students enrolled in humanities programmes

Maths Support Centre
The Maths Support Centre offers the extra support that you may need during your studies at ATU. You can access these facilities on a one-to-one basis, as a small group or online.
Supports Include:
- Small group tutorial support in Maths and Physics topics
- Limited individual consultations
- Exam revision support sessions
- Online support via Microsoft Teams and email
- Access to special resources including digital pencasts

Our Student Hub is a single space where you can access all your student resources and supports while studying at ATU.

Student ID Cards
Student ID cards are a useful source of identification while studying at ATU. When completing your online registration you will upload your photograph which will enable us to produce your student I.D. card and it will be issued to you via post.
