An Introduction to Marketing – Digital Badge

A series of courses introducing the learner to some of the main concepts and terminology within marketing.

The four courses are:

  • Introduction to Marketing Concepts
  • Introduction to Digital Marketing
  • Introduction to Marketing Research
  • Introduction to Services Marketing

Assessment Overview

There are knowledge checks throughout the courses including multiple choice quizzes. The assessments can be repeated within a course. The learner can attempt the course assessment quiz at the end of the course. Once the course assessment quiz is successfully completed, the
learner will be awarded a digital badge for that course.

Duration

Each course takes approximately 2 hours to complete. The learner can start and resume the course whenever suits.

What is it?

These courses introduce the learner to some of the main concepts and terminology within marketing. There are four distinct courses: Introduction to Marketing Concepts, Introduction to Digital Marketing, Introduction to Marketing Research and an Introduction to Services Marketing.


Introduction to Marketing Concepts This course gives the learner an insight into the different marketing terminology, the evolution of marketing concepts, what is marketing communications and the promotional mix, the changes in marketing and the different types of marketing.

Introduction to Digital Marketing This course will give the learner an insight into what is digital marketing and how it differs from traditional marketing, digital audiences and segmentation, the process of planning a digital marketing campaign, some of the digital marketing tools available and also legal and ethical considerations.


Introduction to Marketing Research This course will introduce the learner to some of the main concepts and terminology related to marketing research. The learner will learn about the need for marketing research, the different research methods available, the importance of ethics in research and the marketing research process.


Introduction to Services Marketing This course will introduce the learner to the main areas of services marketing. The learner will get an understanding of what services marketing is and why it is important. They will also learn about different services marketing terminology, the characteristics of services marketing, what the extended marketing mix is and about how service delivery may breakdown and be recovered

Why do it?

The learner will gain a digital badge(s) in a specificmarketing area. The digital badge can be shared easily digitally and added to ones CV. The knowledge gained will help with career progression and potential future studies

Who is it for?

These courses are for anyone who wishes to learn some of the main concepts and terminology within the field of marketing. The courses will give you an introduction to some areas in the broad subject area of marketing. The courses maybe useful for business owners, employees whose remit now expands into marketing and secondary school students who are interested in the field of business and possibly a career in marketing. Overall, it is for anyone who wishes to expand their knowledge in this area.

How is it delivered?

These courses are self-directed. Therefore, the learner will follow the content online at a time that suits them. The assessment knowledge checks
are built into the online courses. There is not a time deadline to complete any of the courses which gives the learner flexibility to choose a time that suits them. While the courses are not delivered live, if a learner has a query, they can email queries to a dedicated academic who will revert back as soon as possible marketingbadge.sligo@atu.ie

Badge Details

The individual badge and the overall milestone badge are validation of the achievement of successfully completing the courses. Learners will be invited to claim their badge at the end of the course having successfully completed the mid course knowledge checks and the course assessment quiz. The badges can be shared digitally and used to display new technical skills in this subject area.
